/0 Comments/in Press Release /by PATTISON OutdoorPictured: WE Day Canada campaign currently running on OC Transpo buses in Ottawa to promote WE Day’s takeover of Parliament Hill for Canada 150.
Ottawa, ON, June 29, 2017 – PATTISON Outdoor Advertising and PATTISON Onestop have partnered with WE Day, the world’s largest youth empowerment event, to announce and build excitement for WE Day Canada – WE Day’s takeover of Parliament Hill, which will close out Canada Day long weekend celebrations on July 2, 2017, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.. WE Day Canada ads can be seen across Ottawa, on PATTISON Digital Superboards, digital screens in office towers and residential buildings, and circulating throughout Canada’s capital on OC Transpo buses.
“We are so proud to be a long-time partner of WE Day and to help promote this one-time, special event”, said Ian Gadsby, Vice-President of Digital Technology at PATTISON Onestop. “Those who have attended a WE Day event in the past will agree that there is no better way to close out Canada’s 150th birthday celebration. Canada’s future is in the hands of our youth, and WE Day has been inspiring young people across Canada to make a difference in their communities for years. WE Day Canada will set the stage for our country’s future by inspiring the next generation of change-makers to build a better Canada and a better world, and we are honoured to be a part of the movement.”
WE Day launched their media campaign with PATTISON earlier this year with teaser ads that ran nationally on PATTISON Onestop’s Transit, Office and Residential Networks. The ads featured portraits of remarkable Canadians who are building a more caring and compassionate Canada. The portrait series, titled WE are Canada: Future 50, included portraits of Margaret Trudeau, Chris Hadfield, Penny Oleksiak and 47 other remarkable Canadians. The teaser ads started the conversation and built excitement leading up to the Parliament Hill takeover announcement on June 1, 2017. Once WE Day Canada was announced, the portraits were replaced with ads that list the event details, including a few of the names from the star-studded lineup of Canadian celebrities that will perform at the event.
The WE Day Canada celebration on Parliament Hill will feature inspirational speakers, and Canadian celebrities, innovators and trailblazers, including Nelly Furtado, Hedley, Lilly Singh, Barenaked Ladies, Alex Nevsky and many more. For those who are not able to attend WE Day Canada in person, the event will stream live on WE’s Facebook page and will be taped for a special CTV broadcast on Saturday, July 8 at 7 p.m. EST.

Saint John Transit Shelter Transformed into Park Oasis in New Campaign for Tourism New Brunswick
/0 Comments/in Press Release /by PATTISON OutdoorTransit Shelter in Uptown Saint John, NB transformed overnight into a Park Retreat for Tourism New Brunswick.
SAINT JOHN, NB, September 13, 2017 – PATTISON Outdoor Advertising teamed up with m5 Marketing Communications, Wavelight Productions and Tourism New Brunswick to bring the spectacular scenery of New Brunswick’s Provincial Parks to the residents of Saint John for a new tourism campaign for the province. On July 28th, a park oasis was set up overnight at a bus stop near Market Square in Uptown Saint John, where park guides welcomed delighted visitors. The Out-of-Home stunt was part of a new online campaign for Tourism New Brunswick entitled, “Getting Away is Closer than You Think.”
Working with the City, PATTISON Outdoor secured the location and city approvals for the innovative execution at the Market Square in Uptown Saint John. Wavelight Productions and Shannon Multimedia Productions were involved in the recreation of the Shelter, as well as in producing and filming a video for Tourism New Brunswick’s online campaign. This execution included scenic vinyl adhered to the shelter, custom landscaping, park guides and a sign to bring awareness to the nine Provincial Parks throughout New Brunswick. The online video was pushed out through digital and social media channels and has amassed over 150,000 views to date.
“Using the element of surprise, the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture’s marketing branch wanted to create a fun and shareable video to build awareness of Provincial Parks as part of a New Brunswick based advertising campaign. The intent of the campaign, ‘Getting Away is Closer Than You Think,’ is to demonstrate to New Brunswick residents all of the experiences available so close to home,” says Jennifer Kenny, Senior Director of Client Service, New Brunswick of m5 Marketing Communications. “We needed a busy street location and a bus stop space that was ideal for transformation as well as for filming. This bus stop fit all criteria.” The New Brunswick campaign included fully-wrapped transit shelter locations in Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John and was paired with TV, radio and digital advertising throughout the province.
PATTISON Outdoor is a full service Out-of-Home media company, providing end-to-end campaign support, including planning, management, creative services, production and 24/7 network monitoring.

/0 Comments/in Press Release /by PATTISON Outdoor(Pictured left): Calgary audiences watch one of the Transit Network screens, featuring new Global News content and Global News SkyTracker Weather updates. TORONTO, ON, January 16, 2018 – PATTISON announces today an extended partnership with Global News as the official provider of information and news content for the TTC and Calgary Transit Networks.
Last year, PATTISON, Canada’s leader in the sales and operations of Digital Out-of-Home Media (DOOH) and Global News, the country’s fastest growing digital news source, joined forces to offer top-notch news content on PATTISON’s Office, Residential and Edmonton Transit Networks.
Starting in January 2018, the Global News brand can now be spotted on an additional 1,000 elevator, food court and transit screens coast to coast, bringing the overall total to 3,400 screens.
The TTC Network has 436 screens across all subway stations and delivers 6,422,136 weekly impressions. The Calgary Transit Network has 184 screens and delivers 1,023,616 weekly impressions. Commuters have long depended on these screens to provide them with vital news and commuter information to help get them through their day. From train arrival times to engaging real-time news, entertainment, sports and weather updates, these screens have become a part of their daily routine.
The expanded rollout of news content across the transit networks includes breaking news updates, as well as stories on politics, the economy, arts, entertainment and more, powered through Globalnews.ca, which attracted more than a billion page views in 2017. Global News is also the official provider of weather updates, through its innovative SkyTracker Weather app, supported by Global News’ Meteorologists across Canada, showing current and forecasted weather conditions updated in real-time.
“We are delighted about our expanded partnership with Global News as our content provider on the TTC and Calgary Transit Networks,” said Cam Milne, Vice President and General Manager at PATTISON. “The content displayed on our Networks is a big part of our audience engagement, so its quality and ability to speak specifically to each community across the country is immensely important to us. Commuters will be kept in the loop on the day’s stories and events as they unfold with a reliable Canadian news source they can depend on”.
“I am pleased that Global News continues to grow – informing even more Canadians with the latest news and information on the go,” said Troy Reeb, Senior Vice President, Global News and Corus Radio. “Our alliance with PATTISON is an important one – as the pace of news continues to accelerate, commuters deserve to rely on a trusted news source that offers credible information and facts in real time.”
The implementation of Global News content and weather updates took effect last April 2017 on PATTISON screens in major markets across Canada, including Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax and Winnipeg. Combined, the Office, Residential and ETS Transit Networks deliver over 4.3 million impressions every week.

PATTISON Outdoor and Fourthwall Celebrate Mazda’s 50th Anniversary in Canada with Digital Storefront
/0 Comments/in Press Release /by PATTISON OutdoorPictured above: To celebrate Mazda Canada’s 50th anniversary, a PATTISON Outdoor digital matrix displays a limited edition Guy Allen print, which fans can purchase using a tap-to-pay terminal shown on the right of the screen.
TORONTO, ON, February 12, 2018 – PATTISON Outdoor, Canada’s leading Out-of-Home advertising company, along with its digital and interactive arm, Fourthwall partnered with agency, J. Walter Thompson and Mazda Canada to celebrate the automotive brand’s 50th anniversary with their followers. To commemorate the occasion, Mazda Canada is releasing a series of limited edition prints through a PATTISON Outdoor digital storefront designed exclusively for the event. This interactive digital campaign launched on Wednesday ahead of the Canadian International AutoShow, where the automotive brand is eligible to win two ‘Car of the Year’ awards from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).
Located in the Royal Bank Plaza of Toronto’s PATH, this four-week interactive stunt is a first for PATTISON Outdoor, Fourthwall and Mazda. A 93” x 165” large format screen plays full-motion video, depicting the illustrations of British automotive artist, Guy Allen. Mazda’s brand messaging directs fans to a payment terminal where they can tap-to-purchase a limited edition 18” x 24” print. Buyers are then issued receipts with a unique code and dedicated website url where they can input their mailing address to redeem their posters.
“Unattended payment solutions are rarely used in outdoor advertising campaigns—specifically solutions that are based on tap technology,” says Dmitri Melamed, Vice President and General Manager of Fourthwall. “J. Walter Thompson’s creative vision allowed our team yet again to execute an innovative and challenging project. We’re honoured to have contributed to Mazda’s milestone celebration in Canada.”
“Mazda has such a rich, yet often overlooked, history in Canada and we felt it was important to share that history in a way that feels less like advertising,” says Ari Elkouby, Vice President and Creative Director at J. Walter Thompson Canada. “The prints allow us to tell Mazda’s incredible brand story in a way that feels more like art, which better encapsulates the feeling of Mazda’s clubhouse philosophy.”
Each week of the four-week campaign offers passersby the opportunity to collect a new illustration in the Guy Allen series for Mazda. This ad appears in a busy retail concourse of the Royal Bank Plaza in Toronto and is a part of a larger four-week out-of-home campaign in-market during the same time period.

Edmonton International Airport Welcomes Travellers with New Samsung 4K HDR LED Display
/0 Comments/in Press Release /by PATTISON OutdoorThe 32’ x 12’ landmark 4K HDR LED display now provides travelers with critical information in the highest traffic central security terminal area.
Mississauga, ON – April 10, 2018 – Travelers passing through Edmonton International Airport (EIA) can now enjoy Canada’s largest 4K HDR LED display within an airport, thanks to a new state-of-the-art installation by Samsung Canada and PATTISON Outdoor Advertising. Every day, 9,000 travelers pass through the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) central security area at EIA[1], spending a significant amount of dwell time there.
To help reduce stress levels and elevate the travel experience overall, key information ranging from security waiting periods to gate time and details will be shown on the new 4K HDR LED display. Given that close to 40 per cent of global airport revenues are estimated to come from non-aeronautical sources[2], the stunning landmark LED screen is also used to advertise onsite EIA retail, food and beverage options, parking and more. The board will also be able to provide emergency updates in special circumstances as well as entertainment and live broadcast coverage.
“As a leader in digital technology, we are pleased to partner with the EIA and PATTISON teams to create the largest 4K HDR LED airport display in Canada – an innovative and stunning solution that has the ability to help elevate the travel experience for passengers,” said Mary Peterson, Vice President, IT & Enterprise Solutions, Samsung Canada.
Samsung has the ability to build seamless video walls that can adapt to any dimension, shape or curve. The stadium-screen sized display at EIA is 32’ x 12’ in size, providing eye-catching, bright and detailed image quality from wide viewing angles thanks to its fine 2.5mm pixel pitch.
The new Samsung IF series boasts innovative HDR technology, creating a true-to-life viewing experience with high quality content. With limited wall space available for mounting within EIA’s central security area, the dynamic, dual-sided 4K HDR LED display was installed from the ceiling for maximum visibility and impact.
“This extraordinary Samsung digital display screen was exactly what we needed for our drive to digitize our terminal,” said Myron Keehn, Vice President of Air Service and Commercial Development, Edmonton International Airport. “This board allows us to improve our passenger experience by providing travelers with information more efficiently as well as provide opportunities for advertisers to promote their product or services on state-of-the-art technology at EIA.”
PATTISON Outdoor, Canada’s largest Out-of-Home advertising provider and leader in airport advertising, manages the advertising operations for EIA. Providing EIA and its clients with high-quality products in highly sought-after locations, PATTISON prides itself on offering clients total advertising solutions that include everything from campaign conception, to design, through to completion. With PATTISON, advertisers benefit from a range of services to optimize their campaign. PATTISON’s full range of premium product formats in high-dwell areas at the EIA give advertisers an exceptional opportunity to engage a desirable consumer group made up of a higher-than-average income demographic.
“Located at central security, the display targets a desirable and high-income consumer group made up of domestic and international travellers, and pairs advertising alongside timely airport information,” said Brian de Ruiter, Vice President and General Manager, Prairie Region at PATTISON Outdoor. “This integrated wayfinding solution displays time and security waiting periods, and demonstrates our commitment to growing our digital airport portfolio at the Edmonton Airport and to offering advertisers highly-visible and premium products in exclusive settings.”

TORONTO, ON, April 4, 2018 – PATTISON Outdoor, Canada’s leading Out-of-Home advertising company and its digital innovation arm, Fourthwall teamed up with Jungle Media to promote CARE Canada’s She Too movement in an interactive campaign that launched this week in Toronto’s PATH. In the execution, a PATTISON digital matrix is reframed as a digital donation wall, where passersby are offered an opportunity to directly engage with CARE’s overall mission. The She Too campaign is a part of CARE’s March4Women initiative, which aims to overcome poverty and discrimination by creating equal rights and opportunities for women and girls in developing countries.
“CARE’s She Too campaign is capturing the momentum of a global movement raising awareness and action for women everywhere. Not just in Hollywood or in North America, but in developing countries where women might not have a safe place to share their story and get support,” says Kasia Souchen, Digital Marketing Manager at CARE Canada. “Together with PATTISON, we’re eager to engage with Torontonians on this important issue and offer an easy way to make a real difference in the lives of women and girls in developing countries.”
Found in the Royal Bank Plaza of Toronto’s downtown PATH, CARE Canada’s four-week interactive stunt is a first for the charitable organization, and the Canadian Out-of-Home industry. With Fourthwall handling the production and installation, the “tap-to-donate” panel was designed to accept preset donations of $5 using a cashless payment terminal, accepting credit and debit cards as well as smart phone payments. A full-motion digital spot, vinyl poster and branded payment panel were also designed by Fourthwall to direct passing donors to the terminal. To complement the campaign, brand ambassadors from CARE Canada will be scheduled on-site for a portion of the campaign to answer any questions consumers may have about the organization and its work.
“We are proud to work with Jungle Media and support CARE Canada in their mission of bringing awareness to women across the globe,” says Dmitri Melamed, Vice President and General Manager of Fourthwall. “The cashless payment solution offers passersby who are in a hurry or who do not have exact change, the ability to make simple and quick donations to this great cause.”“
“The digital stunt is a compelling aspect to this campaign,” says Catherine Ramsey, Media Planner at Jungle Media. “The simple contactless donation system bridges the gap between building impassioned awareness and making real change in the moment. We are thrilled to include this impactful execution as a part of our campaign this year.”
Appearing in the busy retail concourse of Toronto’s Royal Bank Plaza, this execution is a part of a larger, general awareness campaign in-market since March 1 that includes PATTISON Transit Interior Cards in Calgary, Ottawa and Toronto; PATH posters; TTC digital network creative, along with newspaper insertions, TV Closed Captioning placements, other Out-of-Home spots and digital display advertising.

MAZDA HEAD-TURNING MATRIX

In this Out-of-Home media first, Mazda’s innovative campaign brought PATTISON’s digital and interactive agency, Fourth Wall together with creative agencies, Excelerator Media and J. Walter Thompson Canada. With the objective of elevating the brand, this campaign was created to be every bit as engaging and innovative as its latest vehicle, the MX-5 RF. With the ability to turn heads, the sleek MX-5 RF was showcased on a high-traffic Digital Matrix Wall in Toronto’s PATH, where custom-built technology combined crowd detection and facial recognition to track impressions from passersby. The result: expert OOH craftsmanship that successfully reflected Mazda’s brand position.
